| Welcome
to the Virginia Off Road Series!
Introducing
a new concept of a Race Series! The Virginia Off Road Series
(VORS) includes multiple established races and disciplines. VORS will
include noted Blue Ridge Outdoor Races from FredEvents and 18
Hours on the Farm Scouts Honor along with two other well known and popular
Series from RunRideRace, Richmond MultiSports, and the SportsBackers.
The competitions selected for VORS includes core mountain bike races with
a twist of multiple discpline races from duathlons to 18 hours. This
means competitors will have to focus not only on the race at hand but
the entire series. Bottom line, accumulating points will involve as much
strategy as having a strong race!
Competitors will have
a variety of XC, Off-Road Duo, Off-Road Tri, Adventure Tri, Enduro, and
Endurance races to compete in to score as many points as possible to win
the top honor of the Virginia Off Road Series(VORS) Champions. . Categories
will be for Team, SingleSpeed, and in overall men and women in the Expert/Pro,
Sport and Beginner Categories. The Series requires you to race in one
XC race before May 31, 2008 in order for you to be placed in SingleSpeed,
Expert, Sport, or Beginner Categories. For the season, you must race in
that class if you do a XC race. Otherwise, race all the races you want
and your points accumulate to your total. While the top 15 in each category
gain points throughout the series in each race, only the top 10 individuals
in each earn the medallion at the end of the Series and the Top 3 will
receive prizes. This mix of racing should keep all competitors on edge
as no one discipline has an advantage. Good Luck!
We wish everyone the
best of luck! But most of all - Have Fun!
Introducing our Partner Race Series:

Sports Backers have helped define sports in Richmond. Responsible
for producing many of the largest participant sporting events in the area,
they are expanding into growing Off Road races. The Virginia Off Road Series
is glad to have the Off Road Duathlon Championship, Duathlon Sport, and
Urban Assault Mountain Bike Race as part the points series.

18 Hours on the Farm - Ed Jones and the guys from Cobblestone
brought Endurance racing to Richmond a few years back. Last year, 18 Hours
on the Farm got their due with a top ranking in the Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine
Polls! 18 Hours never had it so good! While the race is tough, competitors
are treated to hot showers and cabins if they chose. The Scouts have been
a terrific host! This will be a great opportunity to gain points: 400 to
overall winner!

Richmond Multisports reinvented Mountain Bike racing in
the Richmond Area with the creation of the Poor Farm Cups Series. Now this
year, they continue the races under the new name of the Twisted Tire series.
The Twisted Tire Series are 2 great races with heavy competiton.

RunRideRace joined the fun 2 years ago giving Central Virginia
another choice for the outdoor competitor. This series is a good XC/Enduro
race out in Goochland Co. The crowds have been gathering steam over the
last 2 years! Their races include the Camp Hilbert Mountain Bike Series
and the Dirty Du along with the Brady Saunders Off Road Tri!

FredEvents... none other than Konrad Heller at the helm
of this Series. Most competitors are glad to see him on this side of the
timing table. Konrad has been a tough competitor over the years and he still
is. So who better to run a great series. Plus, last year FredEvents received
top ranking in the Blue Ridge Outdoors Poll!! Looking for some extra points?
12 Hours of Lodi will be in his hands this year and therefore included in
our Series as well. Their races include the RATs, FORD Series, 12 Hours
of Lodi, Rapp Rumble, Battle at Burke Farm and the Monster RAT!
