PayDirt Program

The Virginia Off Road Series, in collaboration with the Friends of Pocahontas State Park, is introducing an incentive to racers that awards Series points for trail work. These points will be counted to their final points total to be counted towards their final ranking at the end of the season.

RULES OF THE PAYDIRT PROGRAM : (PDF version)

1. Trailwork needs to occur through an existing and established trailwork organization defined as:
a. An organization or club committed to building, maintaining, or improving new or existing public singletrack trails that are accessible to mountain bikers in Virginia.
b. The organization or club has been established before Jan 1, 2009 and has a history and reputation of approved trail work in the community.
c. The organization or club is public in it’s membership and trailwork schedule and allows any volunteer to participate.

2. Trailwork that is qualified to be counted towards VORS points is defined as:
a. Trailwork performed through an organization or club. Performed between February 15th and October 10th of the same year points are assigned
b. Trailwork that is scheduled and announced through public means (i.e. website posting or email distribution list) at least 2 days in advance of trailwork.
c. Hours to be performed for manual, volunteer labor on singletrack trails accessible to mountain bikes in Virginia and documented with a sign-in sheet by the organization.

3. Hours are to be reported to Virginia Off Road Series by athlete:
a. Filling in online ‘Athlete Trail Worksheet’ on the Virginia Off Road Series website under ‘PayDirt’ immediately after work is completed, final deadline is Oct 10th.

4. Contesting VORS Points for Paydirt hours:

a. The Virginia Off Road Series will only award points for hours submitted by athlete and verified by Friends of Pocahontas. Incomplete ‘Athlete Trail Worksheets’ will not be accepted.
b. If VORS incorrectly awards points for trailwork reported to us, please notify us.
c. All trailwork must be permitted/sanction/authorized by an official/recognized organization. Any illegal trailwork not only jeopardizes the future of organizations from potential trail building but will result in disqualification from The Virginia Off Road Series. If in doubt, contact us before you dig.
