Series Update

Since introducing the 2009 Virginia Off Road Series a few weeks ago, Registration is showing signs of a very competitive and exciting season ahead. Many of last years top competitors that have registered are taking it up a notch and moving up to the next category. This is awesome! The Series has given competitors the ability to see where they stand with each other and put themselves in the best category. Great job everyone!

Points. This year, we've slightly changed the way points are totaled. Notably, a racer's Top 7 Races count towards they're final total points. For those that race 8 or more races, it's like dropping your lowest test grade. Those that race regularly will still be rewarded at the end of the season with bonus points. See the Rules Page for details. This should make the season more fun and exciting for everyone.

Schedule. We are excited about our new Schedule for 2009. We are adding events at new venues at more locations around Virginia . This year includes several races in Charlottesville: OHill Meltdown(register), Off Road Omnium, Chimney Chase, and Ride the Ridge(register)! We're excited to have the Tidewater Challenge, near Williamsburg, as our Grand Finale this year! The schedule is almost complete, but we're working on adding more excitement to it. 2008 Top Competitor Interviews... We've interviewed many of our competitors that did so well last year and we asked them a few questions for our racer's interest and benefit. These competitors raced hard through some tough weather and courses in 2008 and are saying interesting things. Check them out!

We have heard feedback from competitors that some intend to race Enduro all year. For those who do, Good Luck! ...but don't forget the fine print. The only qualifier to participate in the Virginia Off Road Series is to race in one XC race to place you in one of our Categories even if you registered through the VORS website.. We have a few new races this year that are XC only and very early in the season and would be awesome qualifier races: OHill Meltdown(register) and Ride the Ridge(register).

This season kicks off with Camp Hilbert(register) on March 8th. Always a great turnout and tough competition. After Camp Hilbert, VORS moves west to our newest races, the OHill Meltdown(register) followed by Ride the Ridge(register). We look forward to watching some exciting races this year. Our new scoring system will challenge many levels of competitors. Keep your eyes open! VORS continues all spring, summer, and fall until we wrap up the season down at the Tidewater Challenge.
