Favorite Race Style (XC, Enduro, Endurance) and why? Enduro/Endurance,
I am more physically adept for longer riding. I also find them to be
a more tactical battle. In the really long stuff, mental strength
comes into play as well. I do really love a full gas on short XC
though, man those are fun!!!

Favorite Race: IN VORS: 18 hours on the Farm Outside of VORS--at
least last year ;): Paranormal 6 Hour

How did your favorite race play out?
Lots of really long lonely hours in the saddle. Became a battle of mental strength with myself to keep
going.

How often do you ride and at what pace per ride?
I do 5 days a week anwhere from 9-22 hours per week. Pace depends on time of year and
specific work that I am doing. Intervals are way different than Base Miles.

Do you think riding everyday is over training?
YES, you have to allow the body time to build from the work you did, otherwise, while you may
improve, you will never reach your full potential

Do you switch between road ride, mountain biking and running?
Some yes. Often this time of year I am riding on the road, just on my
mountain bike. I like trying to spend as much time on the machine
that I race on.

Do you wear a heartrate monitor and train based upon heart rate numbers?
Yes, HRM and train with a PowerTap. If you are really
serious about training and making the most of limited time that you
have to train, power metering is the way to go. Sometimes I race with
the PT as well, gives great stuff to gauge future training off of.

What (if any) supplements do you take during a race?
Electorlytes of several forms, Pop tarts, gels, energy chews, Coke, Pepsi, Cytomax,
HEED, V8, Pickle Juice.....whatever.

What type of (if any) supplements do you take after a hard ride?
Brownies!!! Recoverite with Emergen-C in it, Chocolate Milk!!!

What got you into mountain biking and then what got you into racing?
Riding with my Bro and his fast friends, that made me want to get
faster, so I started training and racing.

Would you consider this a hobby, sport, lifestyle, or occupation? Why do you feel that way?
Everything but an occupation...perhaps we should add obsession to the list...
have you seen this damn trailer I built.....I think it proves my point!!

What do you like to do with your time away from your race/training calendar?
Spend time with my dog, fish, hunt, teach Paramedics, Relax

Anything else you would like to share?
The VORS had a great first year, I am excited to see the second season coming together bigger
than the first. Now go ride your bike!!!
