Favorite Race Style (XC, Enduro, Endurance) and
why? I'm an endurance athlete.... after a short break,
I recover quickly & keep going
Favorite Race:Xterra
Richmond. VORS - RAT1
How
did your favorite race play out?
Xterra Richmond was awesome. I had a decent swim and run.... but
a fantastic bike leg to place 2nd amateur. RAT1 was a challenge, it was
hot and painful. I remember lactic acid building up in my legs during
the first run.... by the second run I felt like I was running in slow
motion.
How
often do you ride and at what pace per ride?
Twice a week, mainly weekends. Pace?
Do you think riding everyday is over training?
Yup
Do you switch between road ride, mountain biking
and running?
I cross train to stay fit and remain competitive. Off-road triathlons
are my speciality. I try to swim twice a week (usually once), run 3-4
mornings per week, ride twice and work way too much. I switch between
disciplines not only to work out different muscle groups, but also to
fit in work-outs. I often don't have time to gear up for a ride during
the week; a run is just perfect (even if its at 6am)
Do you wear a heartrate monitor and train based
upon heart rate numbers?
Nope.
I wear a GPS to monitor my run distance and speed. Does that count?
What (if any) supplements do you take during a race?
Long races.... electrolyte tabs and an electrolyte drink. Real
food.
What
type of (if any) supplements do you take after a hard ride?
real food
What
got you into mountain biking and then what got you into racing?
Friends in grad school. I stopped riding for a number of years.
I picked it up again once I returned to Virginia. I would've been a pure
off-road triathlete if it wasn't for Bike Factory Racing
Would
you consider this a hobby, sport, lifestyle, or occupation? Why do you
feel that way?
Staying healthy and physically fit is a lifestyle. Racing... that's
a second or even third career.
What do you like to do with your time away from
your race/training calendar?
Try
to relax
back
to top....
