Favorite Race Style (XC, Enduro, Endurance) and why? XC
& Enduro
Favorite Race: Urban Assault & 18-hours on the
Farm
How did your favorite race play out?
I exceeded my expectations in both races.
I didn't exactly race the Urban Assault but I did the mountain bike leg
as part of a team for the long XTerra which was the same course as the
Urban Assault.
How
often do you ride and at what pace per ride?
In the off-season I usually ride once a
week. During the season 3 or 4 times a week. Not too concerned with pace
just try to ride hard.
Do you think riding everyday is over training?
for me yes.
Do you switch between road ride, mountain biking and running?
I don't even own a road bike so, all my rides are mountain biking.
I do however, stay fit by working out every day with SEAL Team PT, which
is excellent for core strengthening, cardio and increasing endurance.
Do you wear a heartrate monitor and train based upon heart rate numbers?
No. I use my ability to keep pumping as guidance :)
What (if any) supplements do you take during a race?
Endurolytes, Heed and power gels.
What
type of (if any) supplements do you take after a hard ride?
multi-vitamin and eat healthy including
lots of fruit and veggies.
What
got you into mountain biking and then what got you into racing?
I was introduced to mountain biking by John
McGuire (owner of SEAL Team PT.) It was just a natural progression into
racing. I used to be a runner and also raced in running races before turning
to off-road triathlons and mountain bike races.
Would
you consider this a hobby, sport, lifestyle, or occupation? Why do you
feel that way?
Most of all it's my passion and lifestyle
applied towards a sport. Just love to be outdoors on 2 wheels flying down
the trails, doesn't get any better than that :)
What do you like to do with your time away from your race training/calendar?
I read a lot and continue working out with
SEAL Team PT so that when the biking season comes along I'm ready.
Anything else you would like to share?
I had a great time racing in 2008 and look
forward to 2009 season.
