9, 2008(Richmond, Va) Wow! What a season
we're having. The upcoming Urban Assault marks the half-way mark for the
first season of the Virginia Off-Road Series and the competitors are making
it very interesting. Of the 9 races over 8 weekends, 700 racers have been
ranked in central Virginia's largest off-road race series. Still, some
categories are still wide open for the winning slot to be named the Champion
of the first VORS, while others are racing hard every weekend. Still,
nothing can be taken for granted as the rankings can and do change over
a single race. Check the standings page on VirginiaOffRoadSeries.com to
check it out and see where you rank. Your hard work will be rewarded! We're already collecting thousands of dollars in prizes to give away at the end of the year from VORS' great sponsors. There are boxes of goodies we can't wait to give away collecting and still growing. When you need something for your biking or outdoors equipment, think of those making this series possible and send Rowlett's Bicycles, YeRen Outdoor Adventure, and Carytown Bicycles your love and thank them for making this possible. The top 10 in each
category will receive badge of honor for your racing and the top 3 will
receive additional prizes to brag to your friends about. The top 3 teams
will also receive great prizes at the end of the season. Don't forget
about the Wildman Award sponsored by YeRen and DCR for who completes the
most races. So far one individual is edging everyone else by one race.
Count them up to see who it is. Of course, we need a time and a place to distribute this inventory and that's coming soon. We're currently putting together an event that’s going to be much more than an awards ceremony, but something to get excited about for all mountain bikers. Stay tuned and keep checking the website for updates. VORS Registration Closed The registration deadline for the series has passed, which means all competitors are now classified. If your listed as "Unclassified" on the standing page, we'll continue to update your points, but won't be moved into a racer category. For the classified racers, check out your competition and check the schedule to keep strategizing your season.
Next is a local favorite and one of the very few chances to race on a rugged, technical course in the middle of a city. The Urban Assault is Xterra weekend in Richmond. With the exception of Camp Hilbert 3 by RunRideRace on July 6, the next couple months are put on by FredEvents with mountain bike races and multisport events. Then another big points race as the Scout Camp with the 18 Hours on the Farm, which just opened registration. Happy Racing! |
